Sarlat

The next morning we headed early to Sarlat to spend the morning wandering. The medieval city is a warren of alleyways, tucked away restaurants, beautiful old houses and delicious looking shops full of pastrys, crepes, and of course lots and lots of froi gras.

We also found some exciting suits of armour that we sneaked photos with.

Inviting looking restaurants beckoned to us, but they were all over priced.

We spent some time wandering some interesting and free art galleries.

The honey coloured buildings and cobblestones streets meant this town was, and still is, one of my favourite places in the world. The delicious food doesn't hurt either.

So much temptation to spend money.

After ogling all the things we couldn't afford we finally stumbled across a little under cover market with beautiful local produce that we just couldn't pass up.

Shyla bought the best figs she'd ever had in her life, and I bought the tiniest amount of foie gras you could imagine, it was also the cheapest one possible, but it was awesome.
We also bought lovely macaroons from the market as well as bread and cheese.

We also came across a beautiful tucked away fountain.

Restaurants had fresh mushrooms out on display.

After a bit more wandering we came across the pattisterie we had been looking for the whole time but going off my memory from years before had proved difficult.

It was so hard to choose what to get!

The best part was that they were just as delicious as I remembered!
