Josselin

After Sarlat we headed for Josselin , in the heart of Brittany. None of the campsites were very cel but after asking the tourist office for any other budget accomidation, they were amazing and told us of the little guest house they had for travellers which held 14 people and was 12 euro each. It looked just like any other house with no signposting, and no office, just rooms and a kitchen, they gave us a key and off we went!

Better yet It was by the river and would have easily cost 40 or 50 euro just for the exact same room in a hotel.

The view from the doorstep. And me taking a photo of Shyla taking a photo of me. Confusing!

The town was picture perfect with a river, a castle, an amazing medieval church and little cobbled lanes with flags hanging everywhere and better yet, for some odd reason placed around the town were loudspeakers on the roofs which played atmospheric medieval music constantly. It added to the atmosphere but also made you feel like you were going insane at times. I enjoyed it very much and simply pretended that it was my own personal theme song.

We then went to have a proper crepe experience and introduce Shyla to the joys of real cider.

Shylas walnut and goats cheese galette looked to die for.

But mine was pretty awesome itself. Egg, cheese and bacon, what can go wrong!

We very much enjoyed the cider and the lovely little mugs they came in.

Dessert didn't look like much, but inside it was dripping salted caramel buttery goodness to die for.

Walking back along the river was beautiful, riverboats were anchored with people enjoying their dinners, and the water was so calm these ruined walls reflected perfectly in them.

In the morning the river was very misty and picturesque.

The little house from the outside.

The castle turned a pinky golden colour in the sunrise that was very pretty.
