Nafplio and Mycenae

Mycenae proved expensive but enjoyable, included in the cost was the museum, the citadel and two large burial sites from which some fantastic grave goods came out of.

My favorite was the classic so called Agamemnon's death mask. Though I couldn't help but laugh at the pretentiousness of the claim (though the museum seemed happy to support it).

Also full length swords and tablets were awesome.

The citadel itself was monumental, although only small parts indicating its size remained.

Lions gate with the carvings (now headless) proved awe-inspiring.

The vault was my favourite however with a monumental door, our theory was it was made by giants, we estimated they must have been about ten feet high, clearly this would explain everything.

Here is Shyla looking awed.

After this enjoyable excursion we stopped on the side of the road to buy the best melon of my life from a little stall, and eating lunch by the harbour. Obligatory selfies with silly faces were then taken.

We then headed to the beach by our hotel.

We got to it by a beautiful cliff idea walk and ended up climbing down some makeshift concrete steps to our own little cove far less crowded the the main one.
