Essaouira

We went to visit the city of Essaouira for the day which was very enjoyable. As a port city, the cry of gulls and the smell of fish permeated in the air.

Vendors on the side of the road made the best fresh orange juice I've ever had.

The town itself was enjoyable to wander, full of twisting streets, cosy cafes and street sellers. Anything from shoes, bags, bright material, fresh fruit, olives, it was all being sold.

After a breakfast of crepes (nutella and banana) we were off again. Trying to watch the children and make sure they didn't wander off was more than stressful, but at least the city was interesting.

Innumerable alleyways wended their way through the city

We then stopped for lunch at a little restaurant which had simply delicious food. I had a chicken tagine with apricots and raisins and all sorts of good things I couldn't name. The flat bread typical of the area was always on hand (and its very good too!) as well as olives and hot spicey stuff which tastes soo good but is just soo hot.

We wandered for the rest of the afternoon, spotting many interesting things including plates and kittens.

I also spotted donkeys on the way home.
